From a Successful Business Career to the Nonprofit Sector
to Making Music
San Francisco-based singer/songwriter follows his heart;
Debut album set for Tuesday, November 13, 2007 release
San
Francisco, CA - October 1, 2007 -
Curt Yagi is used to taking risks. For over 10 years,
he had a lucrative career working in various Bay Area
companies, but always knew something was missing in his
life. Four years ago, Curt accepted the position of Executive
Director for San Francisco nonprofit Real Options for
City Kids (ROCK), where despite a drastic decrease in
salary, he was able to find his true talent and passion
of working with at-risk children. Now, in his spare time,
Curt has once again extended his self, this time in the
realm of music, and is set to release his debut album,
"What's Come Over Me", on Tuesday, November
13, 2007.
Almost
nine years ago, Curt suffered a severe knee injury that
kept him on crutches and at home for several weeks. "As
an active person, I was frustrated that I was stuck inside
and limited in my mobility", he says. It turns out
that this was the catalyst he needed to make a change
in his life. Curt adds, "Since I had a lot of time
on my hands, I wrote a five-year plan which included transitioning
out of the corporate world and finding meaning in my life."
Five years later, he began his career at ROCK where he
still remains today.
Just
two years ago, Curt played music in bands, but always
in a background role. "I never really had the confidence
to write my own music, let alone sing in front of people",
he says. Since then, he once again followed his heart
and begin writing and performing his own music. Today,
he has all the confidence in the world to perform in front
of crowds big and small. Curt says, "It is such a
rush to perform in front of people, especially when my
music speaks to them." His most recent accomplishment
is the completion of his debut album, set to be released
on Tuesday, November 13, 2007. It seems that following
one's heart can actually work.
Advanced
copies of Curt's CD will be available for purchase at
his CD release party set for Friday, November 9, 2007
at Jelly's (295 Terry Francois Blvd, Pier 50, San Francisco)
from 8pm-1am. Details, including advanced tickets, may
